Big E Campaign, 1976

ESB animated advertisement urging customers to use energy wisely and highlights the value of electricity, in comparison to other consumer items. The animation compares the value of electricity; the price of a pint will pay for a month of electric light and the price of 20 cigarettes equals a week’s cooking for a family of three.

This advertisement is part of the ‘Big E Campaign,’ which focused on ‘Easy, Efficient, Economical, Electricity.’ The campaign was designed to be informative and used animation to transfer the message in a simple, graphic and easily understandable way. The campaign commenced in mid-July 1975.

Concludes with slogan ‘electricity, nothing can do so much for so little.’
