Tomorrow’s Houses Today, 1984

ESB’s energy efficient houses research project in Kilcock, Co. Kildare in co-operation with the European Union, commissioned by the Utilisation Section, Commercial Department.

The film depicts the planning and construction of six houses, each house fitted with various different insulation systems for research and analysis purposes monitored by computers and analysed by ESB.

Various different insulation and efficiency systems include double glazing, heat pumps, solar panels, night storage and single, double and triple glazing windows.

Provides insights into material used in construction of houses, use of Irish construction supplies and footage of steel factory in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan.

Concludes with lady in her home enjoying all the benefits of a house designed for the future.
