ESB is once again opening the gates of the historic Ardnacrusha Power Station to schools and the general public for a unique visitor experience into Ireland’s first national hydro-electric station in Co. Clare.
School group visits are being facilitated from from 14 May to 29 June 2018, while public tours run from 2 July to 14 September 2018. The guided tours can accommodate groups of up to 30 people and runs for approximately 90 minutes. All bookings can be made online at www.esb.ie
The tour includes a trip to the impressive canal and locks, as well as the very heart of the station with unique views of the turbine hall and a visit to the original control room.
Those on the tour can visit our Living Archive room (see photos below) which features artefacts, photos and original brochures from our collection at ESB Archives. Our room shows how electricity transformed the lives of everyone, everywhere in Ireland.
