Revolution Papers issue 92: Connecting Ireland

ESB Archives were delighted to contribute to the 92nd issue of The Revolution Papers, a weekly newspaper published in association with the Centre for Contemporary Irish History, Trinity College Dublin, and the National Library of Ireland.

This issue, which was available in shops for the week 3–9 October 2017, focused on the year 1947 and the theme ‘Connecting Ireland’ – in reference to the gathering pace of the Rural Electrification Scheme, which began in November the previous year.

The featured article is written by PJ Cunningham, co-editor of Then There Was Light, and includes a free reproduction of a recently digitised rural electrification pamphlet from ESB Archives, How you can get electricity to your rural home.

ESB Archives would like to thank Ian Kenneally, Editor of The Revolution Papers, for getting in touch with us. A full catalogue of The Revolution Papers is available here, and back issues can be ordered from local newsagents.
