DUE TO HIGH DEMAND, THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED AND SPACES ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE. Thanks to all who booked tickets, looking forward to this weekend!

Take a rail journey through modern Irish history with ESB’s Archives, Irish Rail and the #JJ Community, founders of the largest global Instagram photo community.  Adventure with us on this day trip of learning, sharing and snapping photos as we travel to Ardnacrusha Power Station, Ireland’s first national electricity generating station.  Enjoy storytelling from ESB’s archives team and musical performances along the way. Delve into ESB’s rich heritage and hear about the ground breaking Shannon Scheme and how its construction played a pivotal role in the development of Ireland in the 20th Century and beyond.

When you reach your destination, you’ll be whisked to the wonderful architectural structure for a unique tour (parts self guided) as you explore the site which opened in 1929 and is a powerful symbol of bold thinking in our Irish history.  There will be time for a visit into Limerick City to discover a treasure trove of sights before we head home.

Instagram’s largest and first photo community, #JJCommunity are joining us from the USA for the #JJINSTARAIL tour from Dublin to Ardnacrusha. #JJCommunity photographers Kevin Kuster and Josh Johnson will accompany passengers on this one-off day trip of learning, sharing and snapping photos with other photo lovers.

The #JJ INSTARAIL train tour will include photography tips from @kevinkuster and @joshjohnson, an opportunity not to be missed for budding photographers to learn and share their work with like-minded people. The journey will be animated with traditional music and storytelling as passengers are brought on a magical, visual and aural journey out of the city into the heart of the Irish Midlands.

There will be cafe service on the train, and the cafe will be open at Ardnacrusha, or you’re welcome to bring a packed lunch.

A section of the tour will be outdoors, please bring a rain jacket and warm clothes.
